Following the "Schimmelreiter´s" footsteps to the gate of the National Park

The “Storm town” Husum is located right in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein´s west coast. The famous German writer Theodor Storm once called it “grey town at the sea”, but nowadays Husum presents itself as a colourful place with numerous tourist offers and cultural highlights.
With its historical buildings and streets, a great number of museums, a wider ange of different events and its favourable location at the Wadden Sea National Park, Husum is a popular destination and perfect for school trips. Here, you can experience the WaddenSea culture, nature and wilderness very closely.
Guided tours on the mudflats, boattrips and bird walks bring the pupils in contact with the variety and dynamics of the Wadden Sea ecosystem. The National Park visitor centre provides impressive insights into the world of migratory birds. Day trips to the nearby Hallig islands and to the "Multimar Wattforum" in Tönning complete the programme.
Modern youth hostel with 179 beds (1to 6 bed rooms) located on the outskirts of Husum, approx. 15 min bybike to the city centre, 20 min to the train station.
